Dr. Canales has performed plastic surgery in Santa Rosa for over 15 years at Plastic Surgery Associates, the practice he shares with his wife, Dr. Furnas. Born in Puerto Rico, Dr. Canales earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Harvard College in 1978. From there, he enrolled in Stanford University School of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1982. He completed training in both general surgery and plastic surgery while a resident at Stanford University Hospital. After serving as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Canales returned to California, where he accepted a position as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, as well as Chief of Surgery at Warrack Hospital.

Board-certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Canales is a member of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the highly-respected American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Furnas has devoted her life to developing her surgical skill so that she can offer each and every patient the most thorough and satisfying cosmetic care. At Plastic Surgery Associates, she has served clients from California communities throughout Sonoma County, Napa County and Marin County. Breast lift, eyelid surgery and liposuction are examples of the plastic surgery she performs for the breast, face and body. In her time away from the busy practice she shares with Dr. Canales, Dr. Furnas pursues her passion for the arts by supporting local theatre, ballet and music performances. Dr. Furnas graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine in 1984 and completed a six-year residency in Plastic Surgery before receiving a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School in 1990. Two years later she relocated to Northern California, where she continues to practice cosmetic surgery of the face, body and breast with her husband, Dr. Francisco Canales. She is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons and the highly-regarded American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
