At Kaufman & Clark Plastic Surgery, giving our patients the best care possible means ensuring they receive the kind of treatment we would want for ourselves. In our practice we've brought together the elements we believe are essential for optimal safety, beautiful, natural results and a warm, positive experience for each patient.
It starts with our Sacramento plastic surgeons, Dr. David Kaufman and Dr. Christa Clark. Each is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has years of experience in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Dr. Kaufman and Dr. Clark work with a team of professionals who truly enjoy what they do - from the first person you meet in the front office to the M.D. anesthesiologist who will monitor you closely during surgery.
You'll find our offices to be a blend of essential ingredients as well. Our on-site operating suite is fully accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities and filled with state-of-the-art equipment, yet the overall feeling of the environment is relaxed and friendly. We chose our building to be convenient for people across the entire Sacramento metro area, but most people characterize our location as "quiet" and "private."
Whether you're interested in finding out more about breast augmentation in Sacramento or coming to us from another state for our expertise in post bariatric plastic surgery, we pledge to do everything we can to create the results of your dreams.

Dr. David L. Kaufman meets a great many of his new patients through referrals - and there's a reason for that. His patients are not just pleased with their results; they are enthusiastic about the experience of working with him. He takes plenty of time for each consultation, listening closely and with compassion to fully understand the improvement each man or woman is seeking. He educates his patients about their options and discusses the pros and cons of all the choices. He creates sound surgical plans through honest, open communication that forms the basis of a good partnership between surgeon and patient.
Dr. Kaufman is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Patients from the entire metro area - including Roseville, El Dorado Hills and other communities - work with Dr. Kaufman. He also serves patients from across the United States and from other countries as well, inviting them to take advantage of his virtual consultation and fly-in for surgery programs.

Born and raised in Ohio, Dr. Kaufman earned his Bachelor of Science degree with highest honors from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. After graduation he served in Operation Desert Storm as a Navy SEAL. Following his years in the Navy, Dr. Kaufman attended Harvard Medical School where he received his M.D. He then performed a combination general surgery/plastic surgery residency at Stanford University Medical Center.
When his formal surgical training was complete, Dr. Kaufman was awarded a fellowship to serve with Interplast, a California Bay Area organization providing plastic and reconstructive surgery to those in need in the developing world. In fact, Dr. Kaufman continues to take time away from his Sacramento plastic surgery practice each year to donate his skills to others. He estimates he has operated on more than 500 children and adults around the world.
After a few years on the volunteer clinical faculty at Stanford University Medical Center and serving as director of the Regional Burn Unit at Valley Medical Center in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Kaufman decided to open his private practice and raise his family in the Sacramento area. Dr. Kaufman and his wife, Kate, have two young sons and a daughter. The busy family lives in El Dorado Hills and enjoys outdoor activities, traveling and volunteering.

Dr. Christa Clark takes a very personal approach to working with each patient she serves. She's warm and friendly by nature, and is frequently complimented for her ability to connect with her patients. And she enjoys bringing a woman’s perspective to plastic surgery, knowing that - whether you’re male or female - the way you feel about your looks can make a big difference in your self-confidence and your self-image.
Dr. Clark attended the University of Michigan, in her home state, where she received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Economics and English Literature. She went on to graduate in the top ten of her class from Wayne State University School of Medicine as she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree. Like Dr. Kaufman, she then performed a combined general surgery and plastic surgery residency at Stanford University Medical Center in California, gaining experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

At the conclusion of her formal training, Dr. Clark joined humanitarian medical missions to Central and South America. She performed reconstructive surgery on both children and adults, in "some of the most enriching" experiences of her life. Another very rewarding experience was being selected for advanced fellowship training with a well-known San Francisco cosmetic surgery pioneer.
Dr. Clark has a deep interest in all aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. She feels tremendous satisfaction in performing tummy tucks in Sacramento for women as part of complete "mommy makeovers" and in doing simple eyelid lifts. And whether she's performing breast augmentation for a woman who never developed as she wished or reconstruction for a patient who lost a breast, it's equally rewarding. Using her skills to help her patients feel greater contentment with their lives is why she chose the field of plastic surgery.
Dr. Clark lives with her husband, James, and their young daughter in Sacramento. The family takes every opportunity to enjoy the beauty of their adopted state in outdoor activities.
"Thanks Dr. Kaufman for the wonderful job you did... during surgery, before and after!
You took the time to explain everything to me and that made the recovery very easy. There were no surprises. I'm absolutely THRILLED with my new breasts! I'm wearing clothing with confidence I could have never imagined before.
Your staff was so supportive and caring that I felt like I was with family. I've already recommended a friend to see you. You're a talented surgeon and a warm, doctor. Thanks again!"

"Dear Dr. Kaufman and Staff,
I lost over one hundred pounds after my gastric bypass, but I was actually less happy than when I was heavy. Many of you spent time with me explaining my options and were very emotionally supportive.
By the time I had surgery, I was so ready to shed the stigma of my former self. The surgery went great and I'm literally half of my former self, but twice as happy. The body lift restored my confidence and made me emotionally whole! You all worked wonderfully as a team and made me feel like the star.
Thanks again for the wonderful care. I just can say enough wonderful things about you!"

How Our Plastic Surgeons Help People Throughout the World
Plastic surgeons are capable of making positive change both at home and abroad. One of the wonderful things about plastic surgery is the ability to transform the lives of children and adults in need - safely and with minimal equipment and risk. In the Sacramento area, across the U.S. and worldwide, there are many organizations that provide the opportunity to help the needy.
Dr. Kaufman spent a year as the Jerome Webster Fellow for Interplast, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those across the globe who do not have access to plastic surgery. Since then, he has continued to do his part using plastic surgery to make the world a better place. Each year, Dr. Kaufman volunteers two weeks of his time to improve the lives of children and adults that have no other access to plastic surgery services. Dr. Clark has also taken part in humanitarian medical missions. During her residency training, she traveled to Haiti, Guatemala, and Peru to perform reconstructive surgery on both children and adults. Her humanitarian efforts provided free care to people suffering from facial and body deformities caused by birth and trauma related injuries. Dr. Clark feels her experiences as a surgeon on these missions have been some of the most enriching of her life.
Bay Area Charities
Recently, Dr. Kaufman and Dr. Clark volunteered with Hospital de la Familia, a medical center funded by a Portola Valley group dedicated to improving the overall condition of the developing area of Central America. This unique model is a center for continued care in many disciplines, with continuity of care provided by local physicians in training. If you are interested in supporting these organizations, please contact our plastic surgery practice, the organizations directly, or The Smile Train, an international organization dedicated to repairing the cleft lips of the world's poor.
