After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dr. Smith attended medical school and did his initial residency at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Following a surgical residency at the University of California, Irvine, he was chosen to receive fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. In this program, said to be one of the best plastic surgery programs in the country, Dr. Smith worked under well-known plastic surgeons in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles areas, including some members of the extreme makeover team As chief resident at UCLA, Dr. Smith had the opportunity to be on the surgical team that separated conjoined Guatemalan twins. Lasting nearly an entire 24-hour period, the operation was successful and became the model for future surgeries of a similar nature. The Today show and Good Morning America covered the story and the Los Angeles Times and New York Times featured it as front page news. Dr. Smith performs his outpatient surgeries at Laguna Hills Surgery Center. He's also on staff at several hospitals including Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center, Irvine Regional Medical Center and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. He performs his outpatient surgeries at Laguna Hills Surgery Center. Dr. Smith is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a member of many professional medical societies.
Our operating suites are designed to offer patients comfort, convenience and privacy. Our facility is accredited by the AAAHC in order to meet the highest standard of safety. It was constructed to include the most current technology and equipment. We have three locations for the convenience and comfort of our patients. Dr. Smith's primary office is located in the Irvine Medical Center Plaza in the 16300 building, conveniently located near the junction of the San Diego (405) Freeway and the Santa Ana (5) Freeway, a quick drive from Newport Beach, Riverside, Huntington Beach or nearly anywhere in Orange County. Inpatient surgeries are usually performed at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, South Orange County.
